What URL encoder & decoder helps you do
Prepare a search phrase or parameter value for a URL, or inspect a percent-encoded value in readable form.
How to use it
- Choose encode or decode.
- Enter the component to convert rather than an entire address.
- Review percent escapes and space handling.
Input and output example
INPUT
Hello world!OUTPUT
Hello%20world!
Supported formats and limits
- Maximum input: 1 MiB of UTF-8 text.
- Malformed percent escapes and invalid UTF-8 are reported as errors.
How the result is calculated
Uses encodeURIComponent and decodeURIComponent. A space becomes %20; + remains a plus sign. Encoding a complete address will also encode separators such as : / ? and &.
Frequently asked questions
Why does + not become a space?
This tool follows URI-component rules, not application/x-www-form-urlencoded form decoding.
Can I decode twice?
Only if the value was intentionally encoded twice. Repeated decoding can change how a URL is interpreted.
