ABOUT THIS TOOL

What Add text watermark to PDF helps you do

Mark a document “Review copy”, “Draft” or another label. The browser draws the text with available system fonts, then places the rendered label at the center of each PDF page.

How to use it

  1. Select the PDF.
  2. Enter the watermark text and choose text size, opacity and angle.
  3. Create a new PDF and inspect the text on the downloaded pages.

Input and output example

INPUT
Text “Review copy”; opacity 0.2
OUTPUT
A translucent “Review copy” watermark centered on every page

Supported formats and limits

  • Up to 100 UTF-16 code units of watermark text. A label wider than the page is scaled to 85% of the page width.
  • Unencrypted PDFs only. Up to 10 files, 25MB per file, 50MB total and 200 pages. Files are processed in your browser; damaged or unsupported PDFs are rejected.
  • Page-copy operations may omit document-level bookmarks, attachments and interactive form behavior. Editing may invalidate digital signatures. Keep your original and check the downloaded PDF.
  • Word/Excel conversion and searchable-PDF OCR are not included. For English image OCR, export a PDF page with PDF to JPG and PNG, then use Image to Text.

How the result is calculated

Text is rendered into a transparent PNG and embedded over the page. The watermark itself is not selectable or searchable text. Available glyphs depend on the fonts installed on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Does a watermark prevent copying or unauthorized access?

No. It is a visible label, not access control, encryption or copy protection.

Can I use accents, non-Latin text or emoji?

Yes, when the device has a font that supports those characters. Check the result for missing glyphs before sharing it.
