What Frames ↔ time converter helps you do
Check the duration of a frame count or the number of frames needed for a particular clip length.
How to use it
- Choose frames to time or time to frames.
- Select the project’s exact frame rate.
- Choose a frame rounding rule and calculate.
Input and output example
INPUT
300 frames at 30 fpsOUTPUT
10 seconds · 00:00:10.000
Supported formats and limits
- Supports 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps, plus 24000/1001, 30000/1001 and 60000/1001.
- Frame counts must be nonnegative safe integers; durations are limited to 1 billion seconds.
- SMPTE drop-frame numbering and variable frame rates are unsupported.
How the result is calculated
Time = frames ÷ FPS; frames = time × FPS. Fractional rates use their rational value rather than a rounded 29.97. Time-to-frame output uses the selected nearest, floor or ceiling rule.
Frequently asked questions
Is this equivalent to 29.97 DF timecode?
No. It calculates elapsed time and continuous non-drop frame counts. It does not parse semicolon-based SMPTE drop-frame numbering.
Why is the timecode limited to three decimals?
The readable timecode rounds to milliseconds. A separate seconds value is shown to up to nine decimal places.
