What Speech & presentation time estimator helps you do
Check an early presentation or voice-over draft against a time budget, then adjust the rate using a timed reading of your own voice.
How to use it
- Paste your script.
- Choose words or non-space characters and enter a per-minute rate.
- Add pauses or slide-transition time and calculate.
Input and output example
INPUT
600 words at 150 words/minute, plus 20 seconds of pausesOUTPUT
260 seconds · 00:04:20.000
Supported formats and limits
- Maximum script: 1 MiB of UTF-8 text.
- This is an estimate, not measured speech. Numbers, acronyms, emphasis and breathing change actual delivery time.
How the result is calculated
Estimated seconds = counted units ÷ units per minute × 60 + pause seconds. Words use English-locale Intl.Segmenter word-like segments, with a whitespace fallback; non-space characters use visible graphemes where supported. The displayed estimate rounds to one decimal place.
Frequently asked questions
What speaking rate should I choose?
The default is only a starting value. Time yourself reading a sample and enter the measured words or characters per minute.
Does the tool analyze a recording?
No. It uses only the script’s length and the rate you enter; it does not accept or upload audio.
