ABOUT THIS TOOL

What Date Countdown helps you do

Keep track of an exam, launch or personal milestone. The reference date starts at today in UTC and can be changed for any comparison.

How to use it

  1. Enter the reference date and target date.
  2. Set which boundary dates to include in the separate day count.
  3. Review the countdown and the count using your inclusion settings.

Input and output example

INPUT
Reference: 2026-11-06 / Target: 2026-11-16
OUTPUT
D-10 · 10 days remaining

Supported formats and limits

  • Today defaults to the current UTC date, which may differ from your local date. You can change it.
  • The D label uses the plain calendar difference. The count using your inclusion settings is displayed separately.

How the result is calculated

Dates are compared as UTC calendar dates, independently of time zones. A daylight-saving transition still counts as one calendar day. Future dates use D−difference, past dates use D+difference, and the same date displays Today.

Frequently asked questions

Can I count today as day one?

Select Include start date. The conventional countdown label still uses the plain date difference; your inclusive count is shown alongside it.
